FREE Dental and Vision Care
History of Appalachian Miles for Smiles
Appalachian Miles for Smiles came to life with a considerate prayer on a Sunday after Frank Waldo encountered a weeping woman who had not been able to receive the free dental work due to Remote Area Medical’s shortage on volunteering staff. Remote Area Medical is operated by certified dentists who volunteer outside of their practice; therefore, they can only give so much time. The woman had come across RAM three times, and each time she had been unable to reserve a seat due to limited resources. Mr. Waldo prayed for the opportunity to be given where more patients could be cared for and within two weeks, that opportunity arose.
